My client Nicole wrote a 200+ page book for her partner and asked me to create the hardcover book design. She gave me the title & some themes to convey in the cover. These themes included the idea of colored spiritual “auras”, “twin flames” (soul mates) and different aspects of astrology: specifically, Nicole believes her and her partners’ Venus placements led them to meet each other. I came up with the following design, drawing inspiration from 60s/70s book covers while still giving a modern feel. I advised Nicole on dimensions, paper types and finishes for the final product, and I reformatted the design to ensure proper bleed/alignment of title on spine.

What You Aura Color Says About You

I created outlines from pictures of Nicole and her partner individually, then modified the hands to join together. Each of their aura colors overlapped with the color pink, so I made this the middle of the gradient where their hands meet.
